Week days at St Andrew’s
Mondays
One of our regular Growth Groups meets on Monday afternoons for an hour or so twice a month. Growth Groups read and discuss a passage from the Bible together, and encourage each other to grow in faith and service.
Tuesdays
After lunch on Tuesdays (130pm-3pm) Mums and Toddlers meet in the St Andrew’s Memorial Hall - diagonally opposite Sainsbury’s at Jacksons on the Beverley Road, close to Willerby Square. Up to thirty mums and carers with preschool children, meet and chat, while the children play, and there are Dads and granddads who come too! Also on Tuesday afternoons our small branch of the MU meets on a monthly basis.
On Tuesday evenings we meet for our Prayer Evening at the Memorial Hall, once a month, on the first Tuesday of the month (745pm-9pm). Twice a month we meet in smaller Growth Groups, to hear God speak from the Bible, to respond to him in prayer, and to encourage each other in practical Christian living.
Wednesdays
On the first Wednesday morning of each month, we meet at 1030am, to share bread and wine together, to remember the death of Jesus, and we stay around for coffee afterwards.
During the Wednesday lunch hour there is a Bible Club at the local primary school. Children from years 4-6 meet inside for half an hour for Bible stories, songs and activities.
First Steps meets on Wednesday afternoons - another of our regular day time groups, meeting a couple of times a month, from 2pm to 3pm, taking a look at what it means in practice to follow Jesus Christ personally.
Thursdays
From time to time the St Andrew’s Flower Guild meet on a Thursday morning, decorating the building for one of the festivals, or to train new members, or to prepare for a special occasion.
Fridays
Friday lunchtimes sees the cleaning team preparing the church building for Sunday, hoovering, polishing, and keeping an eye on the overall condition of the building.
CONTACT meets on Friday afternoons - usually the last Friday of the month - from 230pm for an hour. CONTACT provides an easy opportunity to make friends, there’s always outstanding baking, delicious tea, good company and an interesting talk from a Christian perspective.
On Friday evenings three Christian youth groups meet regularly in the Memorial Hall. Rockets (for 5-10 year old boys) blast off at 6pm. Distinctive (for boys and girls in school years 7-9) meets from 730pm to 9pm. Impact (for boys and girls in school years 10 and above) meet from 730pm to 930pm.
Saturdays
Once a month on a Saturday morning (8am-930am) we have a Men’s Breakfast. We eat sausages for England and then study what the Bible says on issues to do with work. For more details contact Jonathan.
From time to time on a Saturday there are weddings at St Andrew’s.
